Can't we all just get along?

Sometimes I grow weary from trying to be true to my two fashion divas within.  There are times when the rocker chic takes over and demands the voluminous kinky afro, electric blue nail polish, and totes so large you could carry around a small child! Then the vintage vixen steps on the scene, with her polished updoes, cocktail ring over satin gloves, and sassy crimson brim cocked to the side.  There was a season when it was all or nothing.  Now days, I am embracing a truce. I have become a melting pot of edge and elegance. The two have become one and the fusion is such fantasy to discover.

PAST EVENT

My good friend Deronda teamed up with Ebbie to bring the ladies of the Lowcountry the Natural Hair Meet Up. We had a ball! There was an educator in the building doing demonstrations, there were give aways and best of all, PRODUCTS! You do know that's all natural women talk about. Please note, she was not at the event, but she is the epitome of all natural. I am so motivated and inspired when I see women that are confident in their own skin, freckles and all.

Selfridges, a London department store has the world's largest shoe department. Check out the museum style layout! They have more than 5,000 pairs on display and nearly 100,000 kept in back.  Styles ranges from mid to high end, from TopShop to Gucci. Shoe heaven on earth!

WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR?

This is a daily question for me. These essentials will create a great foundation, start here and build. Think core and classic  first, then blend in fun, and trendy.

5 MUST HAVES IN YOUR WARDROBE

·  Basic Black Dress - The basic black dress has been around for a long time. It is often called the "Little Black Dress", trust me, you will need a short sleeve, long sleeve, knee length and pencil.  

·  Trench Coat - The trench coat is one of the pieces that is both classic and currently a hot fashion item. Most any store sells this piece now. It is great for fall and you can pick it up in a wide range of lengths and colors.

·  Dress Pants - Although it doesn't say black, this is probably what you want to look for. Black is flattering on all figures and goes with everything.

·  Classic Shirt - The white shirt is a definite classic. But it can also come in many different styles to make it look trendy and not dated or like a man's piece of clothing. Find one that accentuates your best attributes and minimizes trouble spots. For example, if you have wide shoulders, stay away from large collars.

·  Jeans - Everyone has a pair of jeans, but does everyone have a pair of jeans that make them look great? The wider leg, low-rise jean style has been popular (and still is) but a narrower leg is coming back along with a higher waist.
